Parish Nurse

The Parish Nurse – Claire Gillett RGN
The post of Parish Nurse was created in 2015 to meet a need and be a self-sustaining additional resource within our villages, to complement the services already provided by the NHS, local authorities and voluntary agencies. Claire works closely with existing organisations including Granta Medical Practices and our service is accredited by Parish Nursing Ministries UK. https://www.parishnursing.org.uk/
The Parish Nurse aims to be a ‘professional friend’ to the elderly, young families and individuals at time of difficulty. Beyond providing individual help and advice she has also been instrumental in arranging community events around health issues – dementia, childhood illnesses, end of life care and getting the best from the health services. Claire regularly attends the Granta Vale Community Hubs which were set up in 2019, and take place once a month in the Abingtons and Balsham.
Funded by our community, the nurse has been quietly providing help, advice and support for those who need it most, church goers or not.
Please note that this is not a 24hr monitored service; if you have an acute illness you should ring your GP or contact NHS Direct on 111 for advice.
