Thursday 22nd October
Dear All
There are times, sadly it feels more often than not at the moment, when we look at the world around us and wonder what on earth is happening! With so much uncertainty, conflict and change, it can sometimes feel rather overwhelming. In this week's Gospel reading (Matthew 24:3–35), Jesus speaks of troubled times, warning his disciples that there will be upheaval and uncertainty. Yet, amidst all this, he reminds them that his words will never pass away. God's promises remain, even when everything else feels unsettled.
Paul, in his letter to the Colossians, offers us some wonderfully practical advice for living through life's challenges. He encourages us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. And above all, to clothe ourselves with love.
What a wonderful image! Just as we choose what to wear each morning, perhaps we might also choose how we approach the day ahead. A little more patience, a kind word, a willingness to forgive, or simply taking time to listen. We cannot always change what is happening in the world, but we can make a difference in the lives of those around us. And perhaps that is where hope begins: in the small, everyday acts of love that reflect Christ's presence among us.

Bingo Night - Eyes Down for a Full House!
What a fantastic evening we had at Hildersham, on Friday! Our Bingo Night was a wonderful success, with plenty of laughter, friendly competition and prizes galore, from chocolates to cash! We raised just under £500, which is a tremendous result. A huge thank you to everyone who came along, helped organise the evening, donated prizes and made it such an enjoyable occasion. Great fun was had by all, although I feel I should apologise for the Curate's children, who seemed to have rather more luck than was strictly necessary! Perhaps they will be banned from playing next time! Thank you all for such a brilliant evening.

A wonderful Pet Service
What a joy it was to welcome some of our four-legged (and two-legged!) friends to our Pet Blessing Service at west Wickham! We were joined by several lovely dogs and even a parrot, who I am almost certain said “Amen” at just the right moment! There was plenty of excitement, a little barking and lots of smiles as we gave thanks for the wonderful animals who bring so much love, companionship and joy into our lives. It was a real privilege to bless each of the pets and their families. Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a special and joyful occasion!
